A pre-reading guide tells you what to look out for before you read. It is written by AI from passages picked across the whole book, so it reflects the text you imported rather than a generic summary.
Open a book and choose Generate on the book page, or press G in the reader to open the Guides panel. Then pick a depth:
You can also set how thorough the guide is, its tone, and the reading level it is written at.
Each section has Regenerate to write it again and Expand to add a few more paragraphs. Regenerations are limited per section for the life of the guide, and the page shows how many you have left.
Each new guide counts towards your monthly allowance. A generation that fails or comes back empty does not count. See AI limits per plan.
Guides are kept for about 30 days, then deleted. You can make a new one at any time, and guides are included when you export your data.
