Dyslexia-friendly fonts and text size

You can change how text looks in the reader to suit how you read. Your choices are saved to your account.

Change the typeface

1. Open a book and press A, or open Reading preferences.
2. Under Typeface, choose one of four fonts:
   • Sans, your device's standard font.
   • Serif, a book-style font.
   • Atkinson, Atkinson Hyperlegible, designed so similar letters are easy to tell apart.
   • Dyslexic, OpenDyslexic, which gives letters weighted bottoms to help stop them flipping or swapping.

Some readers find one of these helps and others prefer a plain font. Try each for a few pages.

Size and spacing

• Text size from 12 to 40 pixels.
• Line height from 1.2 to 2.0. More space between lines can make it easier to keep your place.
• Column width from 480 to 1,024 pixels. A narrower column means shorter lines.

There is no separate letter-spacing or word-spacing control yet.

Colour and contrast

The reader follows your light or dark app theme. You can also switch on Sepia for a warmer page, or High contrast for text at a contrast ratio of at least 7:1.

Hide clutter removes page furniture such as running headers, so only the text is left.
