Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions we get most often. If yours isn't here, email us.
- No. Summarizers replace reading. Read Master frames reading: a pre-reading guide before, an explanation on demand. The reading itself is yours.
- Plenty. Upload PDF, EPUB, DOCX, RTF, HTML, ODT, FB2, Kindle (MOBI, AZW3, AZW), Markdown, or plain text. You can also paste text directly, import from a URL, or pull public-domain books straight from Project Gutenberg.
- Whichever you choose. Set your AI output language and Read Master writes your pre-reading guides and explanations in it. English and Arabic are first-class (with full right-to-left support for Arabic); most other languages work on a best-effort basis. The in-reader Translate tool covers many more.
- Yes, in a private bucket on Cloudflare R2, scoped to your account. We never share or redistribute uploaded content. Delete a book and the file goes with it.
- WCAG 2.2 AAA on the reading flow: 7:1 contrast in the dedicated High Contrast theme, full keyboard navigation, screen-reader landmarks, dyslexia-friendly fonts, reduced-motion support, zoom-friendly text that scales and reflows cleanly up to 200%, and RTL support for Arabic.
- Yes. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep your plan's features until then. No refunds for partial months.
- Yes. The free tier is the real product, not a stripped-down demo. We want everyone to read well, paid or not.
- Free: 3 pre-reading guides and 15 AI explanations per month. Pro: 10 guides and 75 explanations. Scholar: 25 guides and unlimited explanations. Each allowance resets on the first of the month, and we'll warn you well before you hit any cap.
