Import formats and size limits

Supported formats

You can upload PDF, EPUB, plain text (TXT), Markdown, Word (DOCX), RTF, HTML, OpenDocument text (ODT), FictionBook (FB2) and Kindle files (MOBI, AZW3 and AZW).

We check what a file really is from its contents, not its name, so renaming a file does not change whether it is accepted.

Size limits

Largest file you can import

Plan	Size limit
Free	50 MB
Pro	150 MB
Scholar	150 MB

A web page you import by URL is also capped at your plan's upload limit.

Several files at once

You can upload up to 10 files in one go. If you add more, the extra files are left out and the page tells you how many.

Why a file might be turned away

• It is protected by DRM, or it is a password-protected PDF.
• It is damaged or empty.
• It is a format we do not read, such as an image, a program or an archive. Older Kindle Topaz files are not supported.
• Your library is full. See library limits.
